Those applications come from app store and to get app store you have to have the new firmware on your phone. currently you would have something like 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 and for the appstore you need 2.0 .
So just connect to the itunes and it should detect your phone and there are options there to download and install the latest firmware.
I think there's a button there as Upgrade or something like that.
Just click that and wait . It'll take about 30-45 minutes. The download is huge but worth the wait.
Once u're done with this, the appstore icon should appear on your phone. Click that and select the apps you want to install .

Yes and it's free. But you need to upgrade your firmware to 2.0 buy plugging in your phone and opening up iTunes and click UPGRADE. It should back up your information and in about 15 minutes you will have the 2.0 and Application store as an icon on your iphone home screen.
